GAOSP Public BETA 3
GAOSP (Android 2.2 Froyo for Samsung Galaxy I7500) Public BETA 3 !
GAOSP (CyanogenMod port on Samsung Galaxy I7500) is not perfect, but it’s stable to be used as main system.
Before releasing a RC1, we choose to release the last BETA, to confirm there is no more unknow critical issue.
After a lot of works from the whole team (AndroBot, Bukington, Drakaz, Nopy, Obihoernchen),main android and particularly froyo features are working fine, including apps on external sdcard, native tethering, jit, and most feature from CyanogenMOD ! (https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_vendor_cyanogen/blob/froyo/CHANGELOG.mkdn).

My wife got a Samsung Galaxy i7500 just over a year ago (Israel, Cellcom).
It was abysmal – we got it because Latitude allows us to see where the other is, for example, but Latitude DOES NOT WORK on it. Nimbuzz crashed all the time. Wifi disconnected at random. Battery was empty almost instantly. Cellcom kept promising, at least in the beginning, that there would be an update. We had only bought the device (it had Cupcake) based on the sales guy’s promise that it would soon be updated to 1.6 – even this NEVER happened, there was no update EVER.
After fighting with Cellcom and Samsung (who do not have ANY support here), I gave up 2 days ago….. came here, grabbed the beta, installed it, and… IT WORKS GREAT!!!
It took me some time to decide to root it and go with your solution, I had been considering it for some time, but now I really decided there was no alternative, so far the phone was an annoying piece of junk and it does not look like either Samsung nor Cellcom give a damn.
It’s just a beta. I ddn’t expect much. But it feels like going from Windows XP to Windows 7…. (sorry for the Linux guys, I’m 100% Windows). I actually feel I could use it myself…. that says something, because so far I ridiculed the phone all day, it was a big joke until now.
Personally I use a Nokia E72 with a much uglier interface, but it does what it’s supposed to do (and that’s a LOT) with proper battery life and Nokia does not abandon its customers like Samsung does.
I have only praise about you guys…. The beta is AWESOME! I look forward to the final release!

Btw, addition – I used the manual way, it worked fine. Took a few hours and some sweating for someone who is not used to such things (I work in IT, but no Linux experience and I was afraid of bricking it
) but it worked fine….

Thanks for your amazing work. Bat, how to Fixed CPU frequency up to 796.8 MHz. ?
Daniel, this guys deserve the 10$ their app – GalaxyUpdater – cost, and it will save you 1-2 hours each update. It’s like a movie ticket , and they definitely earned it.
I bought it and feel very good about it.

why can not increase the frequency of 796.8 MHzon my galaxy. When I tried it on is totally blocked. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why would you do this? It’s pointless, leave it on the default settings and everything will work fine!

Thanks a lot Drakaz, I am using gaosp permanently now from last 1 month.

@Asaf #25: yes, I am definitely going to throw in some $10 for this. I do like to experiment a little on my own… But I will gladly pay for it also, I will do it when the final version gets released!
Must note it makes the phone unresponsive now and then. It cannot be unlocked, screen remains black. If you call it you hear ringing (from the other end) but the phone remains dead silent. Only thing that works is taking out the battery and plugging it back in.

Unfortunately our phone’s (i7500) processor is only 528 mhz. Our phone doesn’t have a dedicated graphics chip too !!
To run 3d games and applications, 1ghz processor and dedicated graphics chipset is a must.
In my opinion, Android 1.6 is quite ok for this phone. 2.2 runs slow and it demands more than what our phones (i7500) have.
The worst thing about i7500 is the battery life. After 8 hrs of normal daily usage the battery drains !!!
I hate this phone. I don’t have a problem with samsung and I use it’s TV and Monitors for years. But this phone became my worst hated phone to-date !! IT sucks. It is not a phone, it is a headache. It is not smartphone it is othisticphone !! A new concept !
I installed Froyo yesterday, using GalaxyUpdater and I have exactly the same problem! Only thing that works is taking out the battery and plugging it back in.
Do you know what’s the problem?
