PSFreedom : free your PS3 using your Samsung Galaxy I7500 (Recovery 6.5).
PSFreedom is an opensource freeware solution, used to jailbreak Playstation3, with a mobile device.
A lot of devices are currently supported (http://psfreedom.com/wiki/index.php?title=Device_compatibility_list), included Iphone, Nexus One, Dream…and now, Samsung Galaxy !
wolfgar (http://bit.ly/aj3Qwf, in french) made a great work porting PSFreedom to GAOSP’s kernel, which allow us to use this nice exploit on our devices, from the whole I7500 commnity : thank you !
Along with this patch, come a new recovery, which include PSFreedom’s I7500 kernel, and some major change on the recovery itself, allowing you to use the exploit from the recovery itself. New features are :
- New option in main recovery : Launch PSFreedom (flash PSFreedrom recovery, then reboot in recovery, without user intervention)
- New PSFreedom recovery (included in Recovery 6.5) with PSFreedrom autoloading, option to reboot/reboot recovery, and full automatic jailbreak ! Just plug your device to your PS3, launch PSFreedom watcher, and watch your Samsung Galaxy I7500 jailbreaking your PS3 !
- PSfreedrom recovery, for safety, flash custom Recovery 6.5 before doing something else. Just reboot your device in recovery mode, and you’ll get back your custom recovery (please note that because of the exploit, adb is not available in PSFreedrom recovery mode.

You can install Recovery 6.5 using GalaxyUpdater (available on Android Market with this qrcode, or on YAAM : http://www.yaam.mobi/app/?id=com.drakaz.GalaxyUpdaterFull)

what is “jailbreak”?
an excerpt from an article on jailbreaking a PS# from Kotaku.com
The code powering the PS3′s first modchip is now officially out there, meaning anyone with an internet connection and a USB microcontroller can get under their PS3′s skin.
The PSGroove, a new jailbreak solution engineered from the same code that powers the first modchip, is touted as an “open source” PS3 exploit, meaning it’s not out for profit, not being sold by anyone and doesn’t have a company name behind it to pin a lawsuit on.
This development renders Sony’s impending court showdown with Australian retailers a shallow public relations gesture at best. Why? Because defeating them would be like cutting one head off a million-headed hydra; now that PS3-cracking code is out there online, and the only device you require to operate it is a legally-available PC accessory, anyone that has the will to back-up their PS3 games and the ability to read an internet forum will be able to do it.

When will there be the final release of the galaxy updater? More powerful mobiles with Android 2.1 or 2.2 are getting cheeper.

Please, update the recovery with the latest garyfr (wolfgar, I think) release of PSFreedom with downgrade suport to PS3 3.50 FW (I’ve tested and work). See it here:http://forum.frandroid.com/topic/23460-galaxy-psfreedom/page__st__200__p__576052#entry576052
