GAOSP-2-08202010-NIGHTLY is online.

It’s the first time i post for a nightly, because this nightly is an important one, and because public beta 3 is imminent :

Camera picture is fixed by nopy
Light Sensor is fixed (Samsung’s driver is very bad…i will improve the light map soon)
GAOSP is patched with wifi ad-hoc hack (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754961)

1. Speedier than 0820 (10mb free than 0820 Nightly)
2. Flash, AF working gr8
3. WiFi Tethering not present (was there in 0820 but was not working properly)

If the only way to increase the speed is to overclock cpu, then please don’t because it dramatically drops the battery life.
Our phone is 528 mhz, all stable phones running Android 2.2 run at 1ghz. Maybe we have to accept the fact that our phone is a family car, not a ferrari…

No no no…. Do some tweaks then you will feel the speed….! I never do overclock! But it is still pretty fast! And, please remember, overclocking will drains your battery very fast! extremely fast! It is normal………

3. Ad hoc doesn’t work. It says authentication timeout.
4. Certain live wall papers (like water live wallpaper) does not work due to some library missing.

Vipin – I value your comments. However, I have tried froyo on I&500 from the first day.. it was good. and getting better and better everyday..

However, I was in need for more performance and i did all analysis and compared all available android phones.. At present, I9000 is the only best android phone out there with 1Ghz processor and 512 MB memory.. 16GB space.. And notably till yesterday, 1 million phones shipped in US.

I heard that Android 3 is on the way and it requires minimum of 1GHz processor & 512MB RAM .. can expect it by end of this year..

Vipin – you know even without flash the photographs come very nicely with original lighting. May be thats the reason why no flash. I don’t think i would ever need to take photograph using my mobile on complete Dark!!

As far as I know, no other phones currently have 1GHZ processor except Iphone and Galaxy S. Otherwise, i would hv considered Xperia which looks styliesh.. but sure there would be more phones with this spec coming up in near future..

Just an information that i wanted to share with all.

The latest nighty is working really well for me. Battery life seems longer, and if you’re sensible with widgets etc, it’s runs fast enough. I flashed both my Galaxies, for me it’s reliable enough for everyday use. The only issues I’ve had have been due to 3rd party apps such as Cam360, but that warns that it may puke on devices with low RAM, so no real surprise there. Many thank to everyone who worked on this and especially to Drakaz, without whom my phone would still be a pile of crap. I also made a donation as I used Galaxo long before Froyo became usable. Thanks guys.

hey vipin..well my battery gives me stndby of around 1-1/2 days..but with more videos it goes down substantially..n btw this nightly is really good..nt sppeedwise though..perfmnce was much better on galaxo…and yss as sm1 said earlier 3rd party apps do mess things up in this nightly..me goin back to 1.6.3.4
